Compact fluorescent torchieres are the result of an innovative new technology that produces warm, useful light at minimal cost. These lamps require substantially fewer watts to operate than comparable incandescent or halogen torchieres, while producing a similar type and quality of light. This new technology demands less energy and generates fewer pollutants, which contributes to a healthier environment. In addition, compact fluorescent torchieres operate at safe and low temperatures, removing the possibility of fire or smoke damage to your setting.

Currently, the Beat the Heat program is offering the following compact fluorescent torchiere models:

Item Model Name Color Overall Size Bulb Info Light Output Equivalency Manufacturer UPC Number Model Number
Lincoln Park Black 71"h x 13"w 1 x 55 Watt Equal to a 300 Watt halogen Good Earth Lighting 755284003321 G6543-BK-I
Lincoln Park White 71"h x 13"w 1 x 55 Watt Equal to a 300 Watt halogen Good Earth Lighting 755284003352 G6543-WH-I

The Economics of Compact Fluorescent Torchieres...
Halogen torchiere bulbs consume between 300 and 500 watts of electricity. By comparison, a compact fluorescent torchiere consumes a mere 55 to 80 watts. Replacing just one halogen torchiere with a compact fluorescent saves roughly $55 annually.

And that's only a tip of the iceberg.

Halogen torchieres generate temperatures between 700 and 1100 degrees--temperatures high enough to seriously compromise the technology of contemporary heating and cooling systems. This heat can also negatively impact indoor comfort.

The Safety Advantages of Compact Fluorescent Torchieres
Compact fluorescent torchieres operate at temperatures around 100 to 200 degrees. In comparison, halogen torchieres burn at temperatures between 700 to 1100 degrees...temperatures that can easily ignite fabric, paper, or wood. In fact, halogens have been linked to hundreds of fires across the country.

But there's an even bigger risk with halogen torchieres.

Compact Fluorescent Torchieres and the Environment
Compact fluorescent light bulbs require substantially less power to operate that halogen torchiere bulbs...but produce the same quality of light.

Lower demands on the power grid directly contribute to lower amounts of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and hydrocarbon emissions being released into the atmosphere.

The result? We can all breathe a little easier.
